Annotation

In this paper it is argued that an analysis of story structure in the form of a story grammar may complement analyses of sentence structure as a source of evidence concerning ways in which psychological processing needs constrain the form of complex serial productions. Moreover two major extensions to the model of story structure outlined in Mandler and Johnson (1977: 'Remembrance of things parsed') are proposed.
