This study on Asian students' perception of cooperative learning via group work in a New Zealand tertiary institution (in 2005), reveals that Asian students highly value the importance of classroom group discussions for increasing their sociolinguistic performance, yet resent mandatory group assignments resulting in shared marks depending on group performance.
