This paper draws on positioning theory and societal structural configurations of Malay Muslims and Filipino Christians, to predict that the framing impact of political violence is moderated by the message receiver's social position: disadvantaged groups prefer (trait attributions of) freedom fighters over terrorists, and vice versa.
