This study explores social and cultural elements of Scottish and Catalan television soaps, considered (either consensually or not) by both producers and viewers as diacritically important in rendering these productions recognizably Scottish or Catalan, where possible relating them to larger national identity discourses, circulating in those stateless nation societies.
