Annotation

This paper explores whether the popular Nigerian video film industry, in its modern commercial form, is able to mediate and support social change. The research is based on the assumption that popular culture constitutes a forum for race, gender, nation and other identities' negotiation and for power struggles within a society (Dolby, 2006).
