Annotation

Supporting the importance of a notion of perfectly shared content for pragmatic theories, this study advocates the exigency to consistently distinguish between subjective and interpersonal functional communication, claiming that the mutually acknowledged content of a speaker's overt commitment ought to be recognized as ‘speaker meaning’. Differing from the (post-) Gricean tradition, this is minimal, yet truly pragmatic (cfr. speaker-dependent).
