This study discusses three categories of (un)intended misrepresentations in A. Mardkowicz's transcription of Łuck-Karaim letters in Hebrew script. These are probably due to the fact that Mardkowicz, who played a key role in the Karaim language purism movement, was inclined to employ in his journal 'normative Karaim' (instead of transcribing evident Troki or Crimean Karaim phonetic features), even at the price of changing the letters' content.
