This state-of-the-art review shows how young children benefit from early modern language exposure in various educational contexts, and how linguistic, social, cognitive, affective, and classroom-linked factors interact in the processes. The examined target languages involve English, german, French, Italian, Spanish, Croatian, and Ukrainian and the contexts include the U.K., Ireland, Norway, Poland, Croatia, Greece, Hungary, the Ukraine and China.
