Annotation

Drawing on language socialization theory and Bakhtin’s “heteroglossia” concept, this study explores the topics of heteroglossia, frame-shifting, and language ideology with regard to Latina girls’ peer play bilingual practices in a Spanish-English Californian preschool. Besides the reproduction of monolingual ideologies, there is proof of occurence of 'linguistic and cultural hybridity'.
