This cognitive semantic–pragmatic analysis evidences the underlying patterns of metonymic (and synecdochic) motivation, deployed for gender assignment in the case of a specific type of ideological metaphor, advertising gender metaphors, here presented in commercial ads published in British Cosmopolitan.
