Annotation

Drawing on a British corpus of newspaper commentaries on the 2004/05 EU referenda, this study demonstrates that ontologically mixed metaphors make up 76% of all metaphor clusters and that almost all of these are directly understandable. This contends the view of mixed metaphor as troublesome language usage.
