Annotation

Examining hyperbolic emotion expressions in Mandarin Chinese interactions in Taiwan, and in particular the realization of hyperbole through a range of syntactic devices based on metaphor, and its adoption of affective stance to prove speakers’ intersubjectification, it is argued that metaphors' analogical and imaginative capacities enable speakers to talk about exaggerative event interpretations, which further enhances speakers’ intersubjectification to denote their stance for interactive goals.
