Annotation

In a L1 acquisition experiment, this study found proof for the language-based, yet not for the rationality-based explanations of how relevance implicatures are computed. It is argued that reasoning about the role of apparently irrelevant utterances in discourse, makes up the major acquisition challenge with respect to relevance implicatures.
