This study argues that appropriate feedback in asymmetric interactions, more specifically human–robot interactions, needs to take situational information into consideration. It then analyzes human–robot interactions in two different situations, namely more task-based versus more socially oriented interactions, and briefly addresses some implications for both human–robot interaction design and for grounding theories.
