Annotation

This paper argues that the general notion of a prototype of a lie, as proposed by Coleman and Kay (1981) for English words, is also revealed in Ecuadorian Spanish data. The order of semantic elements however differs from English. It is also advanced that pragmatic and cultural considerations are of greater importance, especially as to social lies.
