Annotation

This study argues that the communicative function of the initial subject in double-subject sentences (DSS), is essentially that of a demonstration. DSS's are shown to offer a useful illustration of how speakers conserve knowledge of contextual conditions and how they deploy that knowledge to efficiently organize discursive propositions.
