Annotation

By exploring aspects of clause grammar linked to transitivity and lexical cohesion in news texts of diverging ideological orientations -drawn from The New York Times and the China Daily-, this study demonstrates that interpretations of the NATO bombing of the Chinese Embassy in Yugoslavia in May 1999, and of the roles of social actors involved in this disaster, are constructed in each newspaper's specific text organization choices.
