Annotation

This study sets out to contribute to a culturally inspired theory of political terminology, in particular with regard to factually challenged political terms. Via a culturally informed discourse analysis of a call-in exchange on the Hungarian state radio, the study shows that the deployment of the actually challenged term "gyűlöletbeszéd" (‘hate speech’), appears in response to various norm violations, serving the purpose of protest and redress.
