Annotation

This paper explores the hypothesis that sensory perception gets linguistically conceptualized in terms of a directional relationship that entails the motion of a signal between stimulus and experiencer. Drawing on Finnish data, it is argued that auditory and olfactory perception are conceptualized as entailing the motion of a signal, whereas visual perception is conceptualized as the perception of a concrete entity.
