This study argues that various sorts of metaphorical descriptions of pain (in English), differ in terms of their potential for evoking a response entailing embodied simulation, and in terms of the kind and intensity of the simulation they may provoke. In this respect, textual complexity and detail and creativity level constitute the most pertinent features of metaphorical descriptions of pain.
