Annotation

This study reveals that contextual constraints soundly affect joke processing and appreciation. Discourse context constraints turn out to affect verbal joke processing early on, whereas text type constraints tightly influence later processing and processing results, including recall. A constraint-based model is provided as a theoretical explanation for these results.
