Annotation

Exploring the Belgian news representation of the global SARS outbreak of 2003, this paper argues that news on international crises, constitutes and preserves the socio-cultural discrepancies between ‘us’ and ‘them’ and expresses global power hierarchies and a world division in zones of destitution and prosperity, risk and safety.
