Annotation

This study proposes an empirically derived, pedagogically useful 'Academic Formulas List (AFL)' of formulaic sequences for academic speech and writing, classified after their principal pragmatic function for descriptive analysis and in order to arrange the AFL for reception in the instruction of English for Academic Purposes.
