Annotation

This study argues that humor, -although widely enjoyed-, has traditionally received little respect in Chinese culture, especially given the Confucian emphasis placed on appropriate manners of social interaction. Also, humor was often regarded as the least notable factor in relation to creativity, and to ideal Chinese identity.
