Annotation

This paper discusses how both in Scotland and Nova Scotia (Canada), Gaelic language revitalization efforts are related to instrumental music, particularly fiddle and bagpipe music, for the language is considered as directly determining its rhythm and articulation. This relationship is complicated though by a long history of impeached definitions of what constitutes authentic Gaelic expression.
