Annotation

This study discusses how Zimbabwe's language-in-education policy, marginalizing indigenous African languages, inherited from the Rhodesian racially structured education system. It then presents a new language policy framework labelled 'ITEM' (Integrated Trilingual Education Model) that could be introduced to offer all the citizens the opportunity to actively take part in national development.
