Annotation

Some 2000 years ago, biological and cultural interaction took place between the South African Bushmen (San) and Khoikhoi, African and European peoples who then started to enter the region. This lead to language borrowings and shifts which also affected regional toponyms. This paper focuses on how translations can reveal the original lexical meanings of indigenous Khoisan hydronyms.
