This paper discusses how the interactional features of the 'soft accusation' interrogation method, linked to the interrogator activity of ‘telling about oneself ’, as employed by American law enforcement and private security companies, serve to positively align the subject to the interrogator’s talk and, thus, to facilitate the interactional pathway leading to the subject’s guilt admission.
