Annotation

This study tests the regression hypothesis (Jakobson, 1941) in relation to the loss of morphology and syntax in Dutch immigrants in Anglophone Canada. But as regression can hardly be treated as a theory in its own right, the results are accounted for in the light of both generative and usage-based perspectives, as well as in the light of the more recent Dynamic Systems Theory.
