Annotation

This study demonstrates that quality and quantity of contact with the native German language more significantly influence the prediction of global foreign accent in the native speech of German immigrants to the Netherlands and Anglophone Canada than age at arrival or length of stay. Contact with the L1 via communicative contexts in which code-mixing is inhibited is particularly conducive to maintaining the native language pronunciation stability of migrant bilinguals.
