Pragmatic information such as speaker's intentions, beliefs and attitude toward the listener is called the interactional content of an utterance. It is shown that statements that are high in interactional content yield excellent memory for surface form as well as meaning; sentences low in interactional content yield no memory for surface form and less memory for content.
