This analysis of gestural interactions between hearing and d/Deaf Nepalis, shows that, whereas many scholarly gesture typologies emphasize form and decontextualized reference, the pragmatic effects of gesture inferred from and adding to differently positioned personhoods are more important in local Nepalese ideologies.
