Annotation
This paper applies text mining techniques to media analysis, in particular to support discourse analysis of news reports on the 2007 Kenyan elections and post-election crisis in local (Kenyan) and Western (British and US) newspapers. The most significant ideological differences appear to be related to the interpretive frame of the news events: whilst UK and US newspapers emphasize ethnicity in their coverage, the Kenyan press focuses on sociopolitical aspects.
