Annotation

This empirical study of communication in a large Danish corporation, compares the (perception of the) actual sociolinguistic behaviour of male and female executive managers, performing similar tasks. Results show that in general, leaders prefer an indirect, normatively feminine management style. But whereas male authority is never questioned, female authority often is, especially by male colleagues.
