Annotation

This study discusses how in the 1950s, attempts to gradually ‘bilingualize’ the until then mainly French dominated Congolese colonial apparatus (into Dutch-French), was negatively perceived by native Congolese, as the rights of one group to live and work in a bilingual setting would raise inequality and disenfranchisement for another.
