Annotation

Deconstructing the notions of necessary and luxury loans, and presenting a new set of terms rooted in rhetorical tradition, this study categorizes loans as catachrestic and non-catachrestic. This pragmatic framework is tested on about 100 very frequent anglicisms in German.
