Annotation

Contrary to the prevailing claim that film viewers are overhearers, this paper postulates that the film viewer is a ratified hearer, namely the “recipient”. To exemplify recipient design workings, this paper uses a few excerpts from a notorious TV series, entitled “House, MD”.
