Annotation

This study examines and compares compliment responses (CR), expressed by Chinese-speaking English language learners and native American English speakers in oral communicative contexts via a naturalistic role-play task. The two main factors affecting English language learners’ CRs, appeared to be their L1 culture and their restricted L2 linguistic forms.
