This study attempts to describe the pragmatic behavior of a group of expressions, namely Spanish metapragmatic idioms based on body part terms, within three different sub-spheres. The prevailing pragmatic values of the idioms are linked to the metaphorical and metonymical foundations that may have been involved in their grammaticalization process.
