Based on a large-scale survey, this study on variation in the American Jewish linguistic repertory, argues that this speech ought to be explored not as a separate ethnolect or language variety, but as English with a repertory of distinctive linguistic characteristics emanating from Yiddish, Hebrew, Aramaic, and other sources.
