Annotation

Drawing on Wittgenstein’s notion of language games and Briggs' approach to communicability, this study ethnographically examines cultural models of “communication,” “media,” and “the public”, proposed by public health officials and the centrality of mediatization to their institutional practices. The studied example consists of California county officials efforts' to distribute information on the West Nile Virus.
