This study discusses the problems linked to the teaching of the Rumanian state language, in the context of the Hungarian minority population in Rumanian Szekler Land. It is argued that bilingual education in Szekler Land does not add to the acquisition of Hungarian–Rumanian bilingual competence of minority students, given the unsuccessfully drafted and badly deployed state language teaching methodologies.
