Annotation

This paper argues that despite more positive state or macro level language policies regarding the indigenous Sámi languages of the Nordic countries and North-West Russia, there is a strong doom sentiment among Sámi speakers, given the lack of introduction of nationally decided laws at the local level and the prejudice and disregard from other people, even in their families, and thus they often have trouble in transmitting Sámi to their children. But they still retain faith in Sámi and feel a need for transmission.
