This study argues that ethnolinguistic behaviour is more influenced by social structural factors and by members' motivations than by their subjective ethnolinguistic vitality perceptions. It suggests that ethnolinguistic vitality, -or the group's capacity to act as an energetic collective complex-, depends on the emotional adhesion of its members to this collective identity.
