Annotation
This study proposes a model that best portrays the self-reported language and identity-linked attitudes and behaviours of a group of immigrant students from the Former Soviet Union in Israel. The power of identity as forecaster of language orientations seriously outperforms that of immigrants’ perceptions of ethnic and national language group status or of their subjective evaluation of native and national language competence. Identity and language orientations are also significantly affected by age at the time of immigration.
