Annotation

This study explores media interviews with political leaders of Hamas, carried out between January 2006 and December 2008, directly before the outbreak of war in Gaza. The examination focuses on the role of footing shifts. Interviewers' footing shifts e.g. offer interactional benefits for both interviewers and interviewees, enabling all interlocutors to present their discussion as “newsworthy”.
