Annotation

This study tries to describe, explore and explain some ways in which Chinese judges alter their discursive civil judgments' construction due to the ongoing judicial reform. Analytical results of various data suggest that Chinese civil judgments, albeit being a very institutionalized and standardized genre, contain some discursive instances showing Chinese judges’ context-specific writing variations and their efforts in increasing the transparency of background litigation practices.
