This study explores the retention of a non-native dialect feature by British Asians in London, and in particular the use of one Punjabi feature (t-retroflexion) and one British feature (t-glottaling) across three immigrant age groups. The study demonstrates that local dialect acquisition and exogenous feature retention should be considered as independently constrained rather than as mutually exclusive.
