This study explores the English language-learning motivations of secondary school students, university students, and young adult learners in Santiago de Chile. It examines the extent to which language-learning goals, attitudes, self-related beliefs, and parental encouragement interact in constructing motivated behavior and analyzes the role of age- and group-related differences. It then proposes a new interactive model of language-learning motivation.
