This paper discusses humor in the collectivist Lebanese culture with special attention to comparisons with Western humor research. In addition to procuring Arabic humor terminology and its English equivalents, the paper delineates culture-universals and culture-tied humor in the Lebanese context. It also distinguishes the psychological and social functions of Lebanese humor.
